About Eva

In 2018, my prayers began lifting as melodies for the first time. By 2019, my choir director pointed at my laptop and said, “That’s your studio.” It was a pivotal moment—I started making music and felt a profound sense of alignment and purpose as I turned musical ideas into reality. I also grew determined to stop hiding my light. Fear gave way to healing and growth when I remembered that God is the ultimate reason to sing. Nothing should hold me back from returning the gift He gave me.

Throughout my musical journey, choir has been my sanctuary—the place where I felt safe, heard, understood, and truly myself. My experiences in diverse musical ensembles have deeply influenced my sound. Early on, my love for music was shaped by John Kovalchik, my band director, and Robert Drafall, my high school choir director. At Penn State, I sang in Essence of Joy directed by Dr. Anthony Leach. During graduate school, I was part of the African American Choral Ensemble at Indiana University, directed by Dr. Raymond Wise. Dr. Wise’s mentorship and inspiration is a big reason why I’m creating music today.

Since I began writing music, I’ve been building a vibrant community of fellow artists. I’ve collaborated on projects and performances with platforms like Amen Worldwide, One Big Family, Creators Creations Create, Redeemed Art Collective, theOLOGY, Integrity Music, and more. In 2021, my friends and I launched Fam Jam, a DC-based creative community that hosts regular house shows featuring local creatives of all kinds. This incubator of creativity has fueled my confidence as a performer and inspired me to keep creating while helping others do the same.

My music is both Christian and soulful, but not always how you might expect. It breaks through pre-conceived notions of genres and styles, blending faith, creativity, and authenticity into something that feels both timeless and refreshingly new. Through my voice and music, I hope to

  • encourage others to talk to, lean on, and know God.

  • inspire others to courageously grow in and share their gifts.

  • see a more connected and harmonious world, where I can be a cultivator of community, creativity, and love.

Collaborative Project

As part of a project with One Big Family, we wrote a song about the power of God surrounding us with mercy, grace, and strength. This song is more congregational in nature and is an anthem to rally the Church into who its called to be.
